Antique Chinese huge hand carved wooden oxen. The oxen is carved out of one solid block of redwood or possibly mahogany. The piece is not only amazing in size but also precision carving. The ox measures 52" long by 20" deep and is 24" tall. The piece weighs a solid 100 plus pounds. There are a few old repairs and blemishes most notably the chips to the ears, horn repair and a piece of the rope harness absent. We date the piece circa 1900 legal antique. The Ox, or Buffalo sign, symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work.
