Oil on canvas vintage Romanesque scene painted by Charles Austin Percy (1883-1948) in the early 1900's. The painting as you can observe is large scale measuring 76.5" wide by 47.5" tall with a 1.5" projection. The painting is authentic signed and in need of some light restoration with some minor loss on the canvas and wood frame. Charles Percy Austin was born in Denver, Colorado on March 23, 1883. He studied at the Denver School of Art under William Henry Read (1851-1935). He also ventured to Europe to visit London, France and northern Italy which may be the time frame in which this piece was created. Charles Percy Austins work can be found in the Irvine Museum collection and in important private collections. The locations of many Charles Percy Austins paintings are unknown.
