Antique 18k handcrafted Chinese Fu Lion or Foo Dog brooch. The brooch is set with 14 single cut diamonds and a cabochon ruby eye. The piece dates to the early 20th century. The brooch can also be worn as a pendant by chain or omega. The back of the brooch has a gold pin stem with rolling lock as well as a custom hanger for pendant. The brooch is signed ZVI and marked 18k. There are six 3mm .10 and eight 2.5mm.06 diamonds for a total diamond weight of 1.08 cts. The cabochon ruby measures 4.5mm .33 carats. The brooch measures 2 1/4" wide by 1 7/8" tall with a 3/4" projection. This is a substantial brooch weighing 51.8 grams or 33.4 dwts 18K solid gold.
